Instrumentation and Control Engineering
The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in the year 1983. The graduate Program B.E. Mechanical was introduced in 1985. At present, the Department offers Graduate Program in Mechanical Engineering, Post Graduate Program in Design and Heat Power Engineering. Our Department holds a good reputation for producing eminent engineers as professionals, entrepreneurs and researchers. Many of our alumni occupy key positions in industries as well as in institutions across India and abroad.
Vision
- The vision of the First Year Engineering Department is to gear up the students to gain knowledge of their respective branches by inculcating basic facts of Engineering and Science at PVPIT.
- The First Year Engineering Department’s vision is to prepare students in their respective fields by educating students on the basics of science and engineering at PVPIT

- To impart fundamental engineering knowledge to students in fields that include mechanical, civil, computer, electrical, and electronic engineering.
- To offer strong technical and fundamental knowledge in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and communication skills, which will provide students with an excellent foundation for developing their engineering skills at PVPIT.
Goal
- To encourage the students to acquire practical skills with academic excellence and lifelong learning for a successful career.
- To make the students aware of social responsibilities by enhancing their skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment.
- To enable students to analyze and solve engineering problems with co-curricular activities.
Program: B. Tech, Instrumentation & Control Engineering
Duration: 4 years (8 semesters),
Intake: 30 seats
Instrumentation & Control Engineering is a unique multi-disciplinary art and not a discipline. You learn about a lot of things from different branches of science, engineering & technology. The heart & soul of this branch is innovation & creativity. Graduates become eligible for a wide variety of jobs and many as entrepreneurs. The learning prepares you for careers in various sectors from Automation, Automobile, Agriculture, Biomedical, Energy, Embedded, Industrial manufacturing & processing, Pharma, and Robotics to ITES. This diversification means that you develop a very open outlook to become a good Instrumentation professional. Hence, it is not surprising that our placements have always been high.
Students acquire knowledge from the very basics of sensors & controls to the most detailed industrial manufacturing processes, safety, networking, and security information. The department is well equipped with qualified, motivated staff and good infrastructure for the excellent teaching-learning experience. Laboratory trainers, PLCs, SCADA, DCS, Matlab& Lab-View software & solutions are some of the highlights. The major labs are Sensors & Transducers, Process Instrumentation & Control, Automation, Computers, Applied Electronics, and Projects.
Students are encouraged & assisted to get in-plant industrial training in every vacation and participate in skill development programs conducted on and off-campus. Industrial visits are organized to narrow the gap between theory & practice. We are proud of having nurtured more than 1550 graduates since 1983; whose careers span the whole globe and all sectors of industry& research. Alumni interactions are routine each semester to help students network and update on evolving industry trends.
International Society of Automation (ISA) student’s chapter activities bring world-class professionalism to the department. Instrumentation Engineering Students Association (IESA) is the center for co-curricular & extra-curricular activities in the program. The department organizes events on technical paper presentation and contraption (energy-conversion projects) in the annual state-level event, “NIRMITI”. “Vasant Utsav” is the annual cultural festival where students showcase their artistic and creative skills.
Vision of Department
To provide high-quality education in Control, Automation & Instrumentation Engineering through innovative design teaching methodologies that create aspirants to perform excellent jobs in their fields of specialization, competitiveness, and professionalism to serve the society.
Mission of Department
- To train the students to enhance the latest technologies through theoretical and practical knowledge.
- To improve the strength of our students to survive with the capability of hard-working, punctuality in professional as well as personal life.
- To create intellectuals to serve the society in a meaningful & sustainable way.
