To foster collaboration between Mechanical Engineering department of PVPIT and MED of IIT Bombay.
On March 7th, 2025, The Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Institute Innovation Council at PVPIT, Budhgaon, Sangli organized an outreach event in collaboration with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Bombay. The program aimed to introduce students and faculty to ongoing academic and research initiatives at IIT Bombay and to foster collaboration and motivation among aspiring researchers. The event was conducted on 7th March 2025 at 10:00 AM in the Seminar Hall, Department of Mechanical Engineering, PVPIT, Budhgaon.
Mr. Hrishikesh Jadhav, PhD Research Scholar @ IIT Bombay and Mr. Ketan Sakalkale, PhD Research Scholar @ IIT Bombay, Prime Minister’s Research Fellow were present in person at PVPIT for interaction.
Before starting in person interaction online session was conducted by IIT Bombay faculty experts.

After online session in person session was started by Mr. Hrishikesh and Mr.Ketan ie PhD Research Scholars from IIT Bombay. They were delivered a research talk on their PhD work. Each speaker presented for approximately 30 minutes. Q&A session facilitated engagement between the scholars and participants, encouraging discussion and deeper understanding of advanced research topics.
The interaction with IIT PhD scholars inspired students to pursue higher education and competitive fellowships like the Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship (PMRF). The event fostered institutional links between PVPIT and IIT Bombay, which may lead to future collaborations, internships, and mentoring opportunities. PVPIT faculty benefited from exposure to advanced research areas and methodologies, potentially guiding curriculum improvements and collaborative efforts.
The program could lead to the identification of potential research areas and projects that can be pursued collaboratively, benefiting both departments. The program was facilitated the exchange of ideas, research, and expertise between the two departments, leading to potential collaborations and joint research projects.
The IIT Bombay Outreach Program was a significant step toward academic collaboration and research awareness. It provided valuable insights into frontier technologies in mechanical engineering and inspired students to pursue research-oriented careers.
