The Department of Electronics was established in 1983 along with the inception of the institute, with an initial intake of 60 students. Since its establishment, the department has been dedicated to imparting quality technical education and nurturing competent professionals in the field of electronics and allied technologies.
In the year 2012-13, the department expanded its academic activities by introducing a postgraduate program to meet the growing demand for advanced technical education and research. Further strengthening its academic identity, the department was renamed as the Department of Electronics and Computer Science in 2021-22, reflecting the integration of emerging computing technologies with electronics engineering. Initially continuing with an intake of 60 students, the department has increased its intake capacity 90 in the year 2023-24 and further increased its intake to 120 students in the year 2024-25.
The department is enriched with highly qualified, experienced, and dedicated faculty members, including several Ph.D. qualified professors with strong academic, research, and industrial exposure. Faculty members and students have actively contributed to research through publications in reputed journals and conferences at national and international levels. Department arrange workshops, expert sessions, technical symposiums for students for their carrier and professional growths every year
The department provides an excellent academic environment supported by modern laboratories, innovative learning practices, and industry-oriented activities. Over the years, many students have secured placements in reputed companies and organizations, while a few alumni have successfully established their own businesses and entrepreneurial ventures. Through its commitment to academic excellence, research, innovation, and skill development, the department continues to contribute significantly to industry and society through its competent professionals.
