Instrumentation & Control Engineering is a unique multi-disciplinary art and not a discipline. You learn about a lot of things from different branches of science, engineering & technology. The heart & soul of this branch is innovation & creativity. Graduates become eligible for a wide variety of jobs and many as entrepreneurs. The learning prepares you for careers in various sectors from Automation, Automobile, Agriculture, Biomedical, Energy, Embedded, Industrial manufacturing & processing, Pharma, and Robotics to ITES. This diversification means that you develop a very open outlook to become a good Instrumentation professional. Hence, it is not surprising that our placements have always been high.
Students acquire knowledge from the very basics of sensors & controls to the most detailed industrial manufacturing processes, safety, networking, and security information. The department is well equipped with qualified, motivated staff and good infrastructure for the excellent teaching-learning experience. Laboratory trainers, PLCs, SCADA, DCS, Matlab & Lab-View software & solutions are some of the highlights. The major labs are Sensors & Transducers, Process Instrumentation & Control, Automation, Computers, Applied Electronics, and Projects.
Students are encouraged & assisted to get in-plant industrial training in every vacation and participate in skill development programs conducted on and off-campus. Industrial visits are organized to narrow the gap between theory & practice. We are proud of having nurtured more than 1550 graduates since 1983; whose careers span the whole globe and all sectors of industry& research. Alumni interactions are routine each semester to help students network and update on evolving industry trends.
International Society of Automation (ISA) student’s chapter activities bring world-class professionalism to the department. Instrumentation Engineering Students Association (IESA) is the center for co-curricular & extra-curricular activities in the program. The department organizes events on technical paper presentation and contraption (energy-conversion projects) in the annual state-level event, “NIRMITI”. “Vasant Utsav” is the annual cultural festival where students showcase their artistic and creative skills
