Milestones in the Development of PVPIT, Budhgaon (Autonomous Institute)

Padmabhooshan Vasantraodada Patil Institute of Technology (PVPIT), Budhgaon, Sangli was established with the vision of providing quality technical education to rural and urban students of Southern Maharashtra. Over the years, the institute has achieved several significant milestones.

August 1983 Registration of Shetkari Shikshan Mandal, Sangli under the Bombay Trust Act, 1860.
September 1983 Establishment of the Institute with five undergraduate engineering programs and five polytechnic programs in a rented building.
1983 Received AICTE approval for engineering and polytechnic programs.
1985 Shifted to its own campus at Budhgaon with an initial investment of ₹2.85 crore. Added Mechanical and Civil Engineering programs.
1988 Constructed Boys’ Hostel and Staff Quarters; introduced postgraduate programs in Mechanical Design and Civil Structural Engineering.
1998 Received AICTE grants under MODROBS and RPS schemes.
2000 Started Information Technology Engineering program.
2003 Launched NIRMITI, a National Level Technical Event for Engineering students.
2004 Started Master of Engineering in Heat Power Engineering.
2005 Constructed a modern library building and initiated PROBE, a National-Level event for Polytechnic students.
2007 Constructed a 105-seat Ladies Hostel.
2009 Developed a new academic building for Electronics, E&TC, Instrumentation, and IT departments.
2010 Constructed Administrative Building and started organizing National-Level Conferences.
2011 Introduced M.E. (Structural Engineering) and expanded intake in various UG and Polytechnic programs.
2012 Added divisions in Civil and E&TC Engineering and introduced PG programs in Design Engineering and Electronics Engineering.
2013 Started construction of a new RCC building for Polytechnic; received NBA Accreditation for three programs.
2015 Expanded Mechanical and Civil Engineering divisions.
2016 NBA Accreditation granted to two additional programs.
2019 Achieved NAAC Accreditation (First Cycle).
2020 Started Computer Science and Engineering program.
2025–26 Functioning as an Autonomous Institute under affiliation to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University with NAAC accreditation and AICTE approval.

  • 2009 : Constructed a new academic building for undergraduate departments including Electronics, Electronics & Telecommunication, Instrumentation Engineering, and Information Technology.
  • 2010 : Constructed a new Administrative Building.
  • 2010 : Organized a National Level Conference.
  • 2010 : Added a second division in Mechanical Engineering under Polytechnic Program.
  • 2011 : Added a new postgraduate program in Civil Engineering (Structural Engineering) and a second division in Mechanical Engineering under undergraduate program.
  • 2011 : Added second divisions in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering and Civil & Rural Engineering under Polytechnic programs.
  • 2012 : Added divisions in Civil and E&TC Engineering and introduced postgraduate programs in Design Engineering and Electronics Engineering.
  • Students of the institute have achieved a remarkable 68 Design Patents.
  • Innovative student projects such as Automatic Waste Segregator, Cement Locking Block Maker, Automatic Garbage Collector, Petrol & Diesel Leakage Detection Boat, Sugarcane Cutting Machine, and Bharadi Product Manufacturing Machine have been granted Design Patents.
  • The institute received a 4.5-star rating from the Ministry of Education, Government of India under the Institution Innovation Council (IIC) framework.
  • Team Solaris participated in the National Solar Vehicle Challenge 2020 organized at VNIT Nagpur and secured the Best Innovation Award along with the Public Choice Award.
  • The institute participated in the national-level Mahatma Phule Krishi TIFAN Competition organized by SAE India and John Deere in 2018 and 2019, where Mechanical Engineering students secured First and Second Ranks in consecutive years.
  • In the national-level competition organized by i2i (Ignited Innovators of India), the institute won the Best Philanthropist Award in 2020 and secured Second Position in the Entrepreneurship Sector.
  • The institute secured First Runner-Up Position in the national-level i2i (Ignited Innovators of India) competition organized by COEP Pune.
  • In the EFFI-CYCLE 2019 competition organized by Lovely Professional University, Punjab, the institute achieved Third Position among participating teams.
  • The institute has established an Institution Innovation Council (IIC) recognized by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.
  • A Network Technology Study and Research Laboratory has been established under the guidance of IIT Bombay.
